Individual Reminiscences

Mrs. Doyarun Nessa

My family was very religious and we were taught to concentrate and learn about our religion from when we were small.

Once, when we went to Mecca and were close to the Ka’bah Sharif (Blessed House), I was overwhelmed with the beauty of it. I loved all the surroundings within Mecca and we used to lay our prayer mats near the Ka’bah and pray. I found that after I had finished praying, I could sit and stare and lose myself at the sight of the beautiful Ka’bah Sharif.

I always wish I could keep visiting Mecca and see the Ka’bah, however it is not possible – that is why, after seeing this picture of the Ka’bah I find myself imagining that I was still sitting on my prayer mat and staring, once again, upon the Ka’bah Sharif.
