Mina Jessa was born in 1970 in Kenya to parents from India and Uganda. In 2004 Mina joined the Cambridgeshire Police Constabulary to head their Diversity Unit, a job that would prove challenging to anyone and more so unique to a young Indian woman. A job that many felt would only be taken by the older, the more experienced and certainly not someone from a minority background.
Mina however, is strong and brave in adversity and makes no apologies for her determination to promote equality in its widest form to develop a Constabulary that is global in its thinking and its quest for fairness, equality, and strong community relations.
Changing the way we think is often challenging, but Mina is determined to make that paradigm shift. Her personal and professional life stories are shared from podiums across the region and are inspirational to many. |
