Mrs. Joy Njenje Inspires Us
Mrs. Joy Njenje “I too have a dream. I am looking for all the positive things for the future, that we will overcome this racism.”
Joy Njenje

Born Joy Cameron in 1959, Joy is originally from Lionel Town, Jamaica set in the beautiful Caribbean. Joy’s Father immigrated to England in 1959 seeking a better life for his family whilst her mother awaited Joy’s arrival into the world. Joy’s mother soon followed a year after leaving tiny Joy with her grandmother. Joy was just 6 years old when she came to England and there began her journey, first spending her growing years in Peterborough and was eventually led to Cambridge.

Following a brief stint at the Inland Registry in a typing pool, Joy went onto to join the Peterborough Community Relations Council and then the Cambridge Community Relations Council. Now a wife, mother of 4 and devoted Christian Joy has spent more than 20 years working in the communities of Cambridgeshire, looking after those that are desolate, desperate and in need of support in providing them with better life opportunities. One of the pioneers of the former Black Women Support Group in Cambridge, Joy continues her quest in promoting equality, fairness for all in education, employment and other life opportunities. She is a strong, dedicated, devoted and well loved woman.
